About Mark B. Snyder, D.M.D.
Mark B. Snyder, D.M.D., is an internationally known periodontist and implant surgeon whose practice and research emphasizes the importance oral health plays in an individual's well being. He regularly lectures on this topic to dentists, physicians and other healthcare professionals throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Building beautiful smiles is more than Dr. Snyder’s profession, it is his passion. He resides in Philadelphia and New York City where his practice is devoted to Periodontics, Oral Plastic Surgery and Implant Dentistry. The Philadelphia Daily News named him “Periodontist to the Stars” because of the numerous celebrities and politicians he treats.
Dr. Snyder earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania and trained in Anatomic, Surgical and Forensic Pathology at the Philadelphia General Hospital and Office of the Medical Examiner of Philadelphia. He also trained in Oral Medicine and Pathology at Guy's Hospital in London and received a certificate in both Periodontology and Oral Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine.
His numerous academic appointments have included Director of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; Senior House Officer, Guy's Hospital, London, England and Director of Oral Diagnosis and Patient Screening at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Snyder counsels physicians on dental health concerns in children and remains actively involved in the schooling of future professionals. He also serves as a consultant to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontics at Drexel University School of Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine.
As the Consultant Forensic Odontologist to the Office of the Medical Examiner of Philadelphia and Delaware County, PA, Dr. Snyder testified as an expert witness in homicide cases involving bite mark evidence. He also consults for pharmaceutical and dental product companies by serving on Dental Advisory Boards.
Professionally, Dr. Snyder is active in many medical societies and serves as a Board Member of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine and Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He authors original articles and abstracts in scientific journals and textbooks and is widely recognized for his scholarly achievements including the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
