John Scarpa is a venture capitalist with business interests across the United States. Mr. Scarpa achieved his success and recognition as an entrepreneur in both the cable television (CATV) and wireless telecommunications industries. Beyond his business achievements, Mr. Scarpa is a dedicated philanthropist, primarily in the fields of education, healthcare and disadvantaged families. A long-standing friend of Villanova University and the School of Law, Mr. Scarpa established the John F. Scarpa Chair in Catholic Legal Studies, and was the key to the creation of the first such chair in American legal education. In May 2005, he received the Honorary Doctorate Degree (Humanas Causa), from the American University of Rome.
